Synorigin

Originality checking is not plagiarism checking

They answer different questions, and one of them cannot detect the problem the other is built for.

The difference in one line

A plagiarism checker asks: did this text come from somewhere else? An originality check asks: has this idea already been done?

Why the distinction is not academic

Write a novel entirely in your own words, every sentence yours, nothing copied from anywhere. Run it through Turnitin, Originality.ai or any similarity tool and it will come back clean, because none of your wording appears anywhere else.

The premise can still be Harry Potter with the names changed. No plagiarism tool will tell you that, because there is nothing textually matching to find. The chosen-one check shows the other kind of answer: no copied sentences, and a verdict of roughly 85% a known genre skeleton, with the two obvious comparisons named.

What each one is actually good for

Timing is the other difference

A plagiarism check happens at the end, on a finished text. An originality check is most useful at the beginning, on a paragraph describing an idea that does not exist yet - when changing direction still costs an afternoon rather than a draft.

What it does not do

It will not tell you whether you have a legal problem. Sharing a trope is not infringement, and Synorigin does not treat ordinary similarity as though it were. Where an actual registered brand collides with a name, that is escalated separately and explicitly - see how that differs.
